Job description

This role is specifically for our Sister team based in Renold Building in the centre of Manchester . Sister is a joint venture (JV) between The University of Manchester and Bruntwood SciTech that will transform the University’s former north campus into a new neighbourhood and innovation platform.

Based in the heart of Manchester City Centre and set over 4m sq ft, Sister will be recognised internationally as one of the world’s leading applied innovation districts. It will enable resilient and sustainable growth across the city region, creating over 10,000 jobs and delivering over 2m sq ft of office, innovation, retail and leisure spaces, new homes and a variety of nature‑led public spaces.

You’ll work collaboratively with our Associate Director of Development as well as the wider Sister project team, developing your expertise and creative thinking to help innovate and solve development challenges. You will aim to become a skilled expert who wants to deliver a brilliant experience to customers, stakeholders and colleagues.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Input and contribute to the delivery of key major projects working collaboratively with the portfolio teams
  • Review potential viable growth opportunities, developing knowledge and experience to understand how to financially model scenarios
  • Develop a detailed understanding of the Sister proposition and specification documents
  • Assist the teams to evaluate development opportunities across the portfolios using data, insight and experience to conduct research and present the information clearly and concisely
  • Develop your knowledge of the industry including commercial knowledge, sustainability knowledge, planning guidelines and building design principles
  • Managing costs vs. return to ensure the correct balance throughout the project
  • An understanding of financial appraisal of opportunities, including scenario modelling and provide clearly written reports and analysis of develop opportunities and new site acquisitions
  • Collating reports for the Management team and to the Board.
  • Manage development appraisals and assess costs vs. return to ensure the correct balance throughout the project and the best possible experience and outcome for all parties involved.
  • Engage with the wider internal team on projects by building trusted key relationships with colleagues in finance, retail, commercial, portfolio management and building surveying.
  • Drafting and collating reports for Management team and the Sister Board.

  • We’re looking for proven experience in Real Estate and Property Development on commercial developments from inception to completion
  • Ability to build strong, key stakeholder relationships both internally and externally
  • Curiosity, someone who wants to think creatively and innovatively
  • A keen interest in property and property development with a passion for sustainability and technology

  • It’d be great if you’re MRICS qualified, however we can support your journey to qualify if you have the experience above
