Support Through Sport is a registered charity that empowers young people aged 8-18 by diverting them away from negative influences such as youth offending, antisocial behaviour, violence, gang culture, and knife crime. Through a youth-led approach, the organisation uses sport as a tool to foster positive social behaviours and create safer communities where young individuals can succeed. Based in Nottingham, this regional organisation delivers impactful sport‑based interventions, mentoring, and progressions programmes. Role Description

This is a part‑time, on‑site role located in Nottinghamshire for a Detached Youth Worker at Support Through Sport. The role involves engaging directly with young people in the community to build relationships, understand their needs and provide guidance. The candidate will facilitate sports‑based interventions, mentor young individuals to encourage pro‑social behaviours, and collaborate with local partners to deliver effective outreach initiatives. Additionally, they will contribute to creating safe spaces for young people to express themselves and grow.

Qualifications
  • Proven skills in Youth Work, Youth Services, and experience with mentoring young people
  • Strong background in Social Work or related areas focused on community support and development
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with young people from diverse backgrounds
  • Passion for working with disadvantaged youth and addressing social challenges positively through sport
  • Relevant professional certifications or training in youth mentoring, community work, or social care
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently in community settings
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures
  • Full UK driver’s licence is an advantage
