Band 6 Deputy Sister Women’s Outpatients – 30 hours per week.

An opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Sister to join our team in the Women’s Outpatients Department at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle.

Department Overview

Women’s Outpatients is a busy department accepting emergency referrals from GPs, A&E and patients. Within the department we have specialist clinics including Hysteroscopy, Colposcopy, Early Pregnancy, Fertility and Gynae‑Oncology clinics, among others.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high standard of care, advice and support to all patients and their carers attending the women’s outpatient department.
  • Promote patients’ own knowledge of health care needs and treatment required, developing confidence in their ability to understand the healing process.
  • Work in Hysteroscopy, Colposcopy, Early Pregnancy, Termination of Pregnancy, Fertility and General Gynaecology clinics.
  • Care for emergency gynaecology patients and provide telephone advice and triage for early pregnancy referrals.
  • Assist with staff absence management, roster management, recruitment and retention, performance reviews and budget management.
  • Run the day‑to‑day department operations in the absence of the Band 7 Sister.
