Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced ACP or Advanced Nurse Practitioner to lead our Deteriorating Adult Response Team - DART.

We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking, experienced individual looking for a new challenge.

DART provides high quality, nursing care and support to patients across the organisation who are acutely unwell ensuring patients are receiving the right care, at the right time in the right place.

As a fundamental service, pivotal to the welfare of our patients, you will work alongside the DART Medical Clinical Lead, Acute and Critical Care teams to ensure the service is fully integrated within the organisation and assist with our ongoing development of the National Martha's Rule imitative.

The ideal candidate will lead a team of Band 7 Nurse Practitioners and Band 6 Development Nurse Practitioners. You will be expected to work with minimal supervision and provide oversight and support to the junior members of the team.

This post will include clinical and non-clinical shifts and the service is a 24 hour, 7-day week service, therefore candidates should be aware they will be required to work shifts on a rota basis, including the possibility of the occasional nightshift.

Main duties of the job

This role will be central in the ongoing development of the DART service within the organisation. Through senior leadership, communication and multi-disciplinary working skills, the position holder will work closely with the service responds quickly and effectively to deteriorating patients in all areas of the trust.

The post holder will assist the team in providing support to all ward-based teams in the recognition and management of acutely unwell patients by generating a supportive and educational environment throughout the organisation and assist in the development of bespoke organisation education.

This post requires a highly skilled and experienced ACP or Advanced Nurse Practitioner with the ability to complete a concise clinical history and physical examination to formulate an appropriate diagnosis and management plan. Advanced communication skills will be required on a daily basis to educate and motive others.

As a senior position, this role requires an outstanding role model with extensive clinical and managerial experience and leadership.

As a new service, the post holder will lead on the ongoing development of Trust Policies and Protocols to help guide practice and service delivery. Acting as clinical lead in audit and service improvement and completing monthly reports for the trusts clinical governance group will also be a fundamental part of this role.
