A leading healthcare provider in the UK is seeking an enthusiastic Consultant in Neurology to join their supportive team. The role involves providing outpatient and elective neurology services at York Hospital, collaborating within a well-established department focused on excellent person-centred care. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Consultant in Neurology to join our team of friendly and supportive neurology department.
The Neuroscience department was built over ten years ago to provide a self‑contained department at York Hospital to include Neurology, Neurophysiology and multi‑disciplinary Neuroscience services for York and the surrounding area of North Yorkshire.
The department provides office space and all outpatient facilities for Neurology, Specialist Nurses, multi‑disciplinary and Neurophysiology clinics. The facilities include a physiotherapy gym, occupational therapy workshop, examination rooms, Consultant offices, secretarial offices, research rooms and a seminar room. The multi‑disciplinary team of specialist Neuro‑physiotherapists, Neuro‑occupational therapists, Speech and language therapists and Specialist Nurses are all housed in the department. One section of the department is dedicated to Clinical Neurophysiology outpatient and investigatory facilities. In addition, a team of Neuro‑psychologists provide psychology services from the department. We share the services of a dietician. There is a dedicated social worker based in the department.

The job will involve providing outpatients and elective neurology work based at York Hospital. The role supports a well‑established and collaborative department, focused on excellent, person‑centred care. Within the Trust we are part of Clinical Support and Cancer Services Care Group, which includes most specialist medicine services. The Clinical Director is responsible for the overarching clinical strategy.
Individual job plans will be discussed with the post holder on appointment, with the Clinical Director to finalise the job plan which will become operational on commencement. All jobs’ plans are agreed in line with the Trust’s Job Planning Principles. The department is committed to supporting flexible job plans and will work with you to mutually agree your activity commitment. You will have opportunities to explore teaching, research and quality improvement projects to enhance our service, and we will support your leadership and development in role, discussing development pathways and subspecialty interests to ensure activity is allocated within your job plan.
