Hours: 16 hrs per week (flexible)
Salary: £14.50 per hour / £28,267 (pro rata)

Job Overview

Neighbourhood Networks is a registered Scottish Charity with 20 years of experience of facilitating peer networks with vulnerable adults across the Central Belt of Scotland.

We work with people who may be isolated or at risk of isolation within their communities due to learning disability, poor mental health, physical disability, sensory impairment or other circumstances.

The Role

You will support members to achieve positive outcomes and lead a more fulfilled life. You will advocate for members, support and facilitate group activities, help members utilise, share and develop skills, and promote active citizenship & social inclusion.

Key Accountabilities and Tasks
  • Build warm, caring, positive and professional relationships with members, ensuring their interests are central to the support offered.
  • Carry out a broad range of tasks and activities, supporting outcomes such as Independent Travel, Natural Friendships/Relationships, Money Management, Confidence & Self-Esteem, Community Participation, Life Skills, Health & Wellbeing, and Employment/Volunteering.
  • Notify the Network Manager of any changes in support needs, behaviour or health, and liaise with outside agencies as required.
  • Work flexibly and creatively with individuals and groups, recognising achievements, harnessing skills and helping members discover new ones.
  • Support members with practical tasks: budgeting, paying rent, household tasks, legal advice, housing support, emergency advice, sharing skills, learning new skills, etc.
  • Ensure confidentiality and data protection in all member communications.
  • Record incidents in writing and follow reporting policy; maintain training record.
  • Assist with review of Individual Support Plans, attend GP appointments or other health professionals with members, offer short-term emotional support, support income support applications, and accompany members to external meetings.
  • Participate in work reviews, supervision, training and development.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Good communication, interpersonal and written skills.
  • Good IT skills (computer and mobile), including Office 365 (Word, Outlook, calendar).
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload.
  • Ability to inspire others and encourage group work.
  • Set personal and work boundaries.
  • Live in the community or surrounding area of vacancy.
  • Knowledge of local opportunities and resources.
  • Understanding of issues faced by people with disabilities living in their own homes.
  • Experience working on own initiative, within a team, in communities, disability/mental health/youth work.
  • Commitment to attain an SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
