Reports to: Community Engagement Manager
At Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, we’re on a mission to save lives and our Community Engagement team is at the very heart of that effort.
As a Community Engagement Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in challenging misconceptions, raising awareness, and encouraging early detection of lung cancer in communities across the UK.
This is a fast-paced, hands-on role that will take you on the road – a lot! You’ll travel the length and breadth of the UK, from city centres to rural communities, meeting people face-to-face and having life-changing conversations.
Whether it’s promoting lung cancer screening, increasing awareness of symptoms, or simply being a friendly, supportive presence, your work will have real impact.
You’ll be part of a small, passionate team, and when it comes to our information and awareness events, it’s all systems go. You’ll help with everything from unloading, lifting, moving and setting up equipment to getting stuck in and speaking with as many people as possible.
You won’t need to be a medical expert – we’ll give you the tools, training and information you need – but you will need to be confident, outgoing and a brilliant communicator.
Because events happen nationwide, this role involves frequent travel, often driving and travelling in our electric van for long distances. You should expect regular overnight stays, sometimes for several days in a row. This is a role best suited to someone who’s flexible, proactive, and thrives on variety.
When you’re not out on the road, you’ll be helping to plan and coordinate events—from sourcing locations and liaising with partners to ordering materials and handling enquiries.
You’ll also produce evaluation reports to assess our impact and support future funding bids. These tasks can be carried out from our Liverpool HQ or from home.
This is more than just a job. It’s a chance to help change public attitudes, encourage life-saving action, and be a visible, powerful part of our mission to beat lung cancer.
