Description

The Herald & Times Print Centre currently produces our highly successful newspaper titles: The Herald, and Glasgow Times, together with a huge volume of contract titles.

Due to continued growth and expansion, we are seeking to recruit a key individual for our pressroom team. The position requires good team working and flexibility, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities. A willingness to work on a rotational shift pattern is essential, as is a good awareness and understanding of Health and Safety responsibilities.

Reporting to the Presshall Shift Manager’s, the key focus of this role will be to ensure that daily/nightly printing output meets production deadlines, targets and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure that daily/nightly printing output meets production deadlines, targets and quality expectations.
  • Operate within a pressroom team environment, demonstrating good team working and flexibility.
  • Adapt to changing priorities within a fast-paced production setting.
  • Maintain high awareness and understanding of Health and Safety responsibilities.
  • Work as part of a rotational shift pattern.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • A recognised apprenticeship and qualification in printing.
  • Experience of 4 colour web offset printing.
  • Experience operating state of the art KBA Colora presses.
  • A fundamental knowledge of quality images.
  • Experience of setting 4 colour and mono to specified densities and optimum quality.
  • The ability to work under pressure and an understanding of the time‑critical nature of newspaper production.
  • Consideration will also be given to quality Sheet‑fed printers.
  • A detailed working knowledge and understanding of colour printing processes is essential.
