About CirrusHQ

CirrusHQ is a fast-growing AWS Premier Partner. Our AWS certified team works collaboratively with our customers, helping them deliver their strategic objectives by designing, building, migrating and supporting their cloud technology.

Due to continued growth, we have an immediate vacancy for a Cloud Engineer to join our team. This role can be fully remote based in the UK, but may require occasional travel to customers and attendance at events.

About the Role

As a Cloud Engineer at CirrusHQ you will primarily be responsible for the delivery of a wide variety of Professional Services projects.

No two days are the same at CirrusHQ with various projects from the Public Sector, Education and Private Sector. These projects can include building automated data-driven solutions to build repeatable and recyclable exam environments in the cloud; building virtual classrooms to stream applications directly to a student’s desktops around the world; migrating enterprise-level customers to the cloud; virtualising a university museum collection or collecting data from the stratosphere to measure global climate change.

You will help support the managed services customer base where required and act as an internal escalation point for the managed service team to resolve complex issues including priority 1 outages and non-standard tickets. Using your skills, you’ll bring best practice experience to align our managed services customers’ infrastructure to a high standard and identify opportunities for customer improvement. Once you have successfully completed your probationary period and have a good understanding of our customer base and services, you will join our on‑call rota (roughly 1 week in 12) to support our Managed Services customer base outwith business hours. An additional payment is available to support this service.

Responsibilities
  • Building positive customer relationships and identifying growth opportunities or new services that would support the customers business
  • Working closely with the project team to deliver projects to a high standard, to the project scope within the time and budget constraints
  • Support Solutions Architects in hands on project delivery
  • Applying and challenging best practices to ensure a secure, optimised and efficient AWS infrastructure across our customer base
  • Act as a point of escalation for technical outages/issues
  • Identifying the root cause of issues and reporting to the customer / internal teams
  • Working directly with our customers daily on project delivery
  • Attendance at client meetings and company events where required
  • Involvement in maintaining our high level standard of delivery
Experience (Essential)
  • A minimum of an Associate AWS certification
  • Previous experience in customer facing role
  • Three or more years’ experience with core AWS Services including Load Balancing, EC2, RDS, CloudFront, S3 and CloudWatch
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling such as CloudFormation, Terraform or Serverless Framework
  • Three or more years experience of delivering projects to a strict timescale and budget
  • Ability to write scripts to automate solutions (preferably in Python)
Experience (Nice to have)
  • AWS Certification at professional level
  • Knowledge of typical on‑premise environments such as hypervisor, storage and backup vendors
  • Previous exposure to working with an AWS partner
  • Experience with modernisation of legacy architectures such as containerisation or microservices
  • Experience in building and supporting AWS serverless solutions such as API Gateway, Lambda, SQS, Eventbridge and Step Functions
  • Experience with best practices of deployment mechanisms to deploy releases across multiple environments (AWS native tooling preferred, other technologies accepted)
Benefits
  • Company Pension
  • Ample opportunity to develop your career within CirrusHQ as you will be an essential part of a fast-growing company
  • Full remote working
  • Family Friendly working environment
  • AWS certification support and funded professional development
  • Everyone has a voice and makes a direct and valued contribution to building the best products possible
