Help Build the Infrastructure That Powers the Future – With a Focus on Drainage Design

We are looking for a Civil Engineer to join our growing team at BakerHicks, delivering high-quality designs for power and energy infrastructure projects including substations, grid connections, and renewable energy facilities. You will also work on exciting projects in industrial, defence, and transportation sectors.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading the design and specification of drainage systems, external works, earthworks, and utilities for large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Developing surface water management strategies, sustainable drainage solutions (SuDS), and flood risk assessments
  • Producing detailed drawings, specifications, and reports that meet the highest technical standards
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable solutions
  • Reviewing calculations and subcontractor designs for compliance and quality
  • Supporting and mentoring early-career engineers while contributing to technical excellence and best practice

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Experience delivering projects in one or more sectors. Power sector experience is desirable
  • Working towards Chartered or Incorporated status (ICE or IStructE)
  • Strong understanding of drainage design principles, earthworks, and external works
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD (or similar) for modelling, layouts, and draughting designs
  • Good knowledge of Eurocodes, British Standards, CDM regulations, and BIM processes
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with clients and multi‑disciplinary teams
  • Eligibility for security clearance (essential for certain projects)
