A pioneering energy company in the UK is seeking a Chief of Staff to represent its mission and manage stakeholder relationships. This external-facing role demands a strong presence, helping navigate regulatory contexts and maintain investor momentum. Responsibilities include fostering investor relationships, preparing fundraising materials, and ensuring alignment on strategic decisions across the organization. Candidates should possess senior generalist experience and a strong commercial mindset, with clear communication skills. The company values diverse backgrounds and offers a supportive work environment.
We have built the new way for energy to be transacted.
tem exists to fix a creaking energy market. Today's wholesale system is stacked in favour of the few - a relic of the oil and gas era, riddled with markups and middlemen. We're changing that.
Our product, RED™, is built on a proprietary pricing engine that bypasses the wholesale market, enabling businesses to buy energy produced by renewable generators directly. That means clear, auditable transactions that ensure affordable bills and fair compensation - giving every business real ownership and control over where their energy comes from.
Since launching in 2021, we've saved UK businesses and generators over £25 million, powering a growing network of forward-thinking companies, from Pizza Pilgrims to Silverstone.
Backed by top-tier VCs including Atomico and Albion, we're creating a new category in energy - one that's decentralised, direct, and built on trust.
🏅 The Role
We’re hiring a Chief of Staff to extend the CEO’s reach across the areas that matter most right now: regulators, investors, communications, and the decisions that keep the company aligned as we scale.
This is an external-facing, high-trust role. You will represent tem’s mission and strategy in high-stakes conversations, run critical relationships with strong judgement, and bring back the signal the business needs to make better product and commercial decisions.
You will help tem show up at CEO standard in meetings with Ofgem and other regulators, and in meetings with investors. You will be able to speak to strategy, product, numbers, and performance with confidence, and you will operate well under ambiguity.
You will also run the founder narrative engine: drafting, shaping, and shipping comms that build founder brand and company momentum. You will support fundraising end to end, including deck storytelling, diligence readiness, and negotiation support.
What this role isn’t
An internal operations manager role
A COO heartbeat role focused mainly on running meetings and status updates
A technical regulatory or policy expert role
A passive assistant role
🚀 Responsibilities
Represent tem in regulatory meetings, including with Ofgem, advocating for our mission and capturing emerging regulatory trends that could impact product and strategy.
Own and deepen investor relationships, including pitching, answering performance and product questions, and maintaining momentum across the investor funnel.
Build fundraising materials with the CEO, shaping the structure and storytelling of decks, and supporting the fundraise process from preparation through negotiation.
Drive alignment on high-leverage decisions across Product, Commercial, Ops, and Data by clarifying the problem, surfacing trade-offs, and pushing to a decision.
Act as an early warning system on business performance, reading P&L and engine performance, flagging risks and areas of concern, and helping shape the next action.
Support legal and contractual work at a practical level, helping triage, prioritise, and manage contract and risk work with internal and external legal partners.
Run the founder narrative engine: draft and ship external posts, thought leadership, speeches, and internal announcements that strengthen founder brand and company clarity.
🥇 Success measures
Regulatory and investor meetings run at CEO standard, with clear outcomes, follow-ups, and signal captured back into the business.
Fundraising readiness that compounds: crisp narrative, high-quality materials, clean process, and strong execution support through negotiation.
Faster, higher-quality decisions across cross-functional work, with less drift and fewer repeated conversations.
Clear visibility into business performance with risks surfaced early, prioritised correctly, and acted on quickly.
Founder communication that ships consistently, builds trust, and strengthens tem’s position in the market.
High trust from the CEO and leadership team, evidenced by independent ownership and strong judgement under ambiguity.
🎯 Requirements
Must haves Experience operating as a senior generalist in high-stakes environments, such as Chief of Staff, Strategy and Operations, BizOps, Investor Relations, Partnerships, or as an ex-investor with operating exposure.
Experience in regulated markets, energy, fintech, or other policy-heavy environments.
Comfort representing strategy externally, including with regulators, investors, and senior stakeholders, with strong presence and judgement.
Strong product and commercial mindset, able to translate messy inputs into crisp decisions, trade-offs, and next steps.
Numbers fluency: able to discuss performance, unit economics, P&L, and business drivers without needing a finance translator.
Exceptional communication: can write and edit founder-grade narrative, including speeches, posts, and strategic messaging.
Execution strength: can run complex workstreams end to end, keep momentum, and land outcomes across a cross-functional set of leaders.
Bonus points
Direct fundraising experience, including deck creation, diligence prep, and negotiation support.
Contract and risk fluency, with practical experience triaging and managing legal workflows.
Experience building a content or narrative engine for a founder or executive brand.
