Location: We have a permanent opportunity for a Chemical Delivery Technician to join the Process & Pumping department at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you? The role will be based in Thirsk covering the North Yorkshire region

Work type: 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for the safe handling and receipt of chemicals at our Sewage Pumping Stations (SPS) and Sewage Treatment Works (STW). Your work ensures that our critical infrastructure runs smoothly, safely, and in full compliance with environmental regulations.

Where you fit in:

As our Chemical Delivery Technician, you will:

  • Safely and competently complete assigned tasks related to chemical deliveries and receipt, ensuring policies & procedures are adhered to
  • You’ll respond to chemical spills or leaks with appropriate spill response equipment and procedures
  • Maintain accurate records of chemicals, including delivery dates, quantities and batch numbers
  • Ensure that Material Safety Data Sheets are available and updated for all chemicals received
  • Monitor chemical inventory levels and maintain appropriate stock to avoid shortages or excesses
What skills & qualifications you will need:
  • You will be required to travel to various operational sites as part of your daily activities. Therefore, a full valid UK driving licence is a requirement of this role (with no more than 6 points on your licence).
  • It is essential that you have a practical mindset, enjoy working outdoors in all weathers and be comfortable taking a hands‑on approach to work tasks.
  • Previous experience of using IT systems (Microsoft Office) such as Word is essential as you will be capturing necessary site information on a ‘Toughbook’ or PC.
  • The role involves working alone and as part of a team and should have good time management and the ability to efficiently manage your own workload.
  • You should be prepared to question unsafe working practices and be comfortable in reporting these to management.
  • You should also be a good problem‑solver, decision maker, communicator and one who displays a good attitude and behaviours.
You will also benefit from having:
  • Experience of operating in a site based/technical role
  • Relevant task competence related training, such as Phosphorous Technical training and asset specific training
  • Safety related training & qualifications such as; confined spaces, working at heights, lone worker, COSHH, manual handling etc
