Job description

Dementia Active has for 6 years provided support services in North Oxfordshire for people with dementia. We are expanding and have a vision regarding future provision. We are seeking someone with third sector experience who is keen to play a significant role in this expansion.

What difference will you make?

As chair of the board you will play a significant role in supporting and guiding us through the next stage of our growth. We are the only provider of dementia activity groups in the area and there is a desperate need for what we offer. We are all committed to this endeavour and are looking forward to adding to the existing skills base on the board.

What are we looking for?

We are hoping to find someone who is passionate about meeting the support needs of people with dementia. This person will have experience of senior leadership in a charity setting. They will have a good understanding of the issues facing the voluntary sector and views about how to respond to these. We are looking for someone with a warm personality who gains satisfaction from bringing people together to achieve shared goals.

What will you be doing?

Since first opening a small weekly activity group for people living with dementia in a village hall in December 2018, we have grown beyond all expectations. We now run 5 centres across north Oxfordshire offering daily activity groups. Our board consists of 6 trustees and the CEO. We now feel we are ready to take the next step in relation to our future development. We are excited to offer this opening to someone who shares our vision to expand regionally and even maybe nationally.
