A campsite in the UK is seeking a kitchen lead to manage catering operations during the busy season. The role involves overseeing the preparation of meals, ensuring compliance with health regulations, and leading a team in a fast-paced environment. Successful candidates will have significant leadership experience, knowledge of food safety, and the ability to thrive in a high-pressure setting. Our campsite is located in the heart of Eryri National Park, at the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). This is a place where people come to enjoy the natural surroundings of the mountains.
We are a real living wage foundation accredited employer and are currently looking to recruit a kitchen lead to join the team.
Our season runs from March 13th - November 1st. You will work approximately 40hrs a week, sometimes more or less depending on site needs as the business of the site fluctuates largely throughout the season. Whilst this is a position is for a kitchen lead role, there may be opportunities in the low season to work in other areas of site.
This is a hands on role alongside another kitchen lead in our catering outlet, the Cegin. In the evenings, we have one side of the Cegin serving takeaway stone baked Pizzas, and the other serving burritos & nachos. In the morning we run a cooked breakfast for our campers. Between the months of March and November we deliver in the region of 25,000 evening meals, and 16,000 breakfasts. Our operation therefore needs to be extremely well managed and led to a high standard. Excellent organisation, an ability to work in a fast paced environment, and an ability to work under pressure at times are key skills for this role.
Reporting to the Catering & Retail manager and the General Management team, this person must demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to work with other senior members of staff, as well as be able to work alongside another kitchen lead, to hold the Cegin to its highest possible standard.
Our team works approximately 40hrs a week, depending on business levels. Variable morning, day, and evening shifts required. Due to the nature of our business, split shifts will be required. Typical Cegin shifts consist of Breakfast running 7:30 - 10:00, with pizzas running from 17:30-21:00 in peak season (excluding prep & clean down times). Weekend and Bank Holiday shifts are essential.
