About the Campsite

Our campsite is located in the heart of Eryri National Park, at the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). This is a place where people come to enjoy the natural surroundings of the mountains.

Position

We are a real living wage foundation accredited employer and are currently looking to recruit a kitchen lead to join the team.

Season and Hours

Our season runs from March 13th - November 1st. You will work approximately 40hrs a week, sometimes more or less depending on site needs as the business of the site fluctuates largely throughout the season. Whilst this is a position is for a kitchen lead role, there may be opportunities in the low season to work in other areas of site.

Role Overview

This is a hands on role alongside another kitchen lead in our catering outlet, the Cegin. In the evenings, we have one side of the Cegin serving takeaway stone baked Pizzas, and the other serving burritos & nachos. In the morning we run a cooked breakfast for our campers. Between the months of March and November we deliver in the region of 25,000 evening meals, and 16,000 breakfasts. Our operation therefore needs to be extremely well managed and led to a high standard. Excellent organisation, an ability to work in a fast paced environment, and an ability to work under pressure at times are key skills for this role.

Reporting

Reporting to the Catering & Retail manager and the General Management team, this person must demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to work with other senior members of staff, as well as be able to work alongside another kitchen lead, to hold the Cegin to its highest possible standard.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that our documented HACCP system is adhered to at all times and that all the associated paperwork is up to date.
  • Train team to a high standard to ensure they are confident to operate in a busy environment, and that their customer interactions are positive, friendly, and welcoming.
  • Promote our site values to team.
  • Stay on top of waste management using our on site Eco‑Bot.
  • Ensure adherence to our Health & Safety policy, including wearing correct uniform.
  • Work with the senior team to develop menus that are deliverable by all team members that represent excellent value for money and of a quality both in taste and visually that is befitting of our beautiful location.
  • Have an awareness of ingredient costs and flag issues around changing prices from our suppliers. Ensure that our team fully understand the implications of cost control.
  • Ensure that all team members fully understand and implement our allergies policy.
  • Assist the catering and retail manager with supplier ordering as required.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a leadership role in catering and bar work.
  • Experience in point‑of‑sale retail systems (we use EposNow).
  • Exhibit a thorough knowledge of food allergens and food safety protocols.
  • Display exceptional leadership and communication skills.
  • Adaptability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
  • Willingness to work evenings, early mornings, weekends, school / bank holidays.
  • Certification in food safety and the sale of alcohol is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Driving licence is preferable.

Schedule

Our team works approximately 40hrs a week, depending on business levels. Variable morning, day, and evening shifts required. Due to the nature of our business, split shifts will be required. Typical Cegin shifts consist of Breakfast running 7:30 - 10:00, with pizzas running from 17:30-21:00 in peak season (excluding prep & clean down times). Weekend and Bank Holiday shifts are essential.
