Catering Assistant – Islet Systems

Join us at Langdon Hospital, Dawlish (EX7 0NR) to provide essential catering services in a busy department. The role is part of the central catering facility and involves picking and packing meals, food preparation, and cleaning tasks.

Job Summary

The position runs on a straight shift pattern from 06.30 am to 15.30 pm, with full uniform and training provided. No evening shifts. Competitive salary and enhanced rates for weekends and public holidays plus a robust pension package.

Responsibilities
  • Pick, pack, and deliver meals ordered by patients.
  • Prepare and cook food to meet quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and store deliveries ensuring good stock control.
  • Work safely in a freezer environment, supporting routine preparation schedules.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and customers to facilitate service delivery.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Basic numeracy and literacy.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow food production schedules and store deliveries.
  • Physical ability to push, pull, lift, and operate catering equipment.
Desirable
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • QCF Level 2 qualification in Catering or Hospitality.
  • Experience in a busy catering environment.
  • Knowledge of COSHH, food safety, and allergen management.
