Job Description Summary

The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, managing, and developing prioritised accounts in pharmacy automation, particularly the retail segment, in order to position BD’s solutions as a strategic partner at various stakeholder levels to support achievement of the sales and GP targets. The successful candidate is accountable for the development and effective execution of a multi-year (2 to 4 year) strategic growth and tactical execution plan for the territory, and for supporting internal teams to maximise revenue, GP growth, and establish strong customer relationships. They will work closely with the wider sales team and marketing team to obtain the required support and ensure the implementation and execution of the plan.

Our vision for Medication Management Solutions (MMS) at BD

With our technical capabilities, the Medication Management Solutions (MMS) team are able to manage multiple systems and our operational capabilities enable us to have medications available when and where needed, reducing inefficiency and waste for nursing and pharmacy teams.

Strong command of SFDC CRM is a core requirement at BD. Sales professionals don’t just use SFDC—they master it. At BD, if it's not in SFDC, it doesn't exist. We expect every sales associate to use SFDC and Microsoft Dynamics daily and offer world‑class support and training to help you succeed.

Main Responsibilities Will Include
  • Strategy and long-term growth development plan, for BD Rowa portfolio as part of a wider PA (pharmacy automation) growth plan.
  • Obtain buy‑in, active communication and engagement with internal and external stakeholder teams to ensure the co‑creation of value and effective implementation of Pharmacy Automation Rowa systems.
  • Strengthen network of key healthcare influencers regionally.
  • Identify solutions which best meet customer needs through collaboration with wider teams.
  • Negotiate solutions with Board‑level decision makers.
  • Manage the BD Rowa Retail interface requirements.
Main Activities
  • Prospect, develop and manage accounts to improve revenue and GP growth for BD Rowa product and services portfolio.
  • Serve as the key interface and identify solutions with senior management based on the needs analysis, internally and externally.
  • Guide solution development and coordinate project teams for solution implementation in the accounts, including the activation of the required internal resources (Marketing, Business Analytics, Technical Service, CCO, Clinical, etc.).
  • Establish strong personal relationships with all relevant sponsors and power sponsors directly on site and via participation of relevant congresses and other customer conventions, gather and share market knowledge.
  • Negotiate appropriate strategic deals which meet customer and BD MMS expectations.
  • Oversee implementation of solutions and remain the focal point of contact for the ‘power sponsor’ in the account.
About You
  • Extensive experience in a similar role. Experience promoting high‑value equipment and experience with board‑level negotiations.
  • Support sales teams with cross‑selling and upselling strategies to maximise portfolio penetration.
  • Build strong relationships with key healthcare influencers and board‑level decision makers.
  • Apply deep understanding of pharmacy workflows to tailor automation solutions that enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Engage with policymakers, healthcare associations, and regulatory bodies to influence favourable policies for pharmacy automation and medication adherence.
  • Lead advocacy programmes that demonstrate the impact of adherence on patient outcomes.
  • Develop and execute long‑term growth plans for BD Rowa Retail and Pharmacy Automation solutions, including Microfulfillment Hub automation and emerging pharmacy models.
  • Ability to understand and communicate effectively with individuals from a broad range of business and technical disciplines and an ability to influence these groups to achieve the objectives, both externally and internally.
  • Excellent business development skills and proven leadership skills to drive solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively both as a member and leader of multi‑functional teams.
  • Flexible with regard to travel.
Salary range for the role

£65,000 - £75,000 + bonus + benefits
