Cahill Design Consultants is an established and innovative consultancy providing Acoustic Design, Fire Engineering and Building Surveying services to a wide range of projects, across all sectors, within the built environment. We are looking to expand our services to include Building Physics / Sustainability services.

The business operates from a head office in Colchester, Essex, with additional offices in London and Preston. Incorporated in 2014, the business works across all sectors and has a wide client list, throughout the UK and Internationally.

The Role

This role has excellent prospects for an individual who is ambitious to progress and enjoys working within a vibrant, collaborative team. The role will focus on technical delivery and developing the sustainability service at CDC whilst assisting with growth.

Qualifications
  • A qualification in Sustainable Design, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in building physics and sustainability consultancy, including carrying out SAP calculations and DSM energy modelling, and checking overheating risks in line with CIBSE TM59
  • Proven experience as a Building Physics consultant, with a strong focus on energy modelling and simulation
  • Proficient in using IESVE software for building energy modelling and simulation
  • Detailed understanding of UK building regulations and sustainability standards (e.g., Part L, Part O, NABERS and BREEAM)
  • Proficient in SAP assessments in Elmhurst
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports and delivering presentations
Responsibilities
  • Collaborating with architects and external MEP engineers, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate building physics and sustainability principles into design projects
  • Experience in building client relationships and contributing to the growth of Building Physics services within a consultancy environment
  • Demonstrable experience in managing your own projects effectively
  • Experience in providing design guidance and technical expertise during client meetings and project reviews
  • A good knowledge of UK planning and construction processes
