Job description
Brunswick Surgery – Salaried GP (5 sessions)

We are delighted to support Brunswick Surgery with the recruitment of a salaried GP. This exciting role offers five sessions per week, with four required sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays (two full days). The fifth session is flexible to any other day of the week. The role also includes visits to care homes.

Brunswick is an established training practice for medical students with 9,100 registered patients and excellent QOF achievement. The practice uses EMIS Web and is located in leafy Surbiton, Southwest London, within easy reach of central London, the A3 and M25.

Responsibilities
  • Delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
  • Provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract
  • Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
  • Effective management of long‑term conditions
  • Processing of administration in a timely manner (referrals, repeat prescription requests and other tasks)
  • On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
  • Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  • Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
  • Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
  • Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
  • Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training
  • Ensure compliance with the appraisal/check‑in process
  • Prepare and complete the revalidation process
  • Commit to self‑learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team
  • Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines
  • Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure
  • Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies
  • Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement
Additional responsibilities (may be requested)
  • Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead, completing objectives agreed with yourself and the practice
  • Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
  • Participate in the review of significant and near‑miss events applying a structured approach (RCA)
  • Actively participate in the training and development of nurses, medical students and GP trainees in the practice
  • Support the practice patient services/administration team and respond to requests for advice and assistance from reception, secretarial and nursing staff
  • Attend prescribing, palliative care, clinical governance and practice meetings
  • Provide additional enhanced services to the practice that meet the needs of the patient population and maximise income streams to the practice
  • Undertake additional training where necessary to provide these enhanced services
  • Maintain awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines (prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, annual QOF assessment)
Qualifications
  • Qualified General Practitioner (completed CCT)
  • Currently on a PCT performers list and not suspended from that list or the medical register
  • Member of the General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the Medical Practice Order 2003
  • MRCGP not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983
Desirable Qualifications
  • Evidence of further postgraduate educational activities in relevant fields
  • Evidence of DCH/DRCOG/RCGP Substance Misuse Certificate Level 1 or 2 F2 supervisor training/teaching diploma (essential for HDS)
  • Minor surgery skills
Experience
  • Recent experience of working in general practice in the UK
  • Commitment to and experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary and skill-mixed team environment
  • Experience of working to achieve standards within the QOF
Desirable Experience
  • Evidence of independent working in General Practice
  • Experience of supporting service change
  • Teaching of GP Reg/F2/Medical students/Nursing students
  • Accredited GP Registrar trainer or F2 Supervisor
  • Evidence of participation in QOF
  • Evidence of participation in Audit

Salary depends on experience; contract is Permanent; working pattern is Part‑time.
