Specialist Adult Speech and Language Therapist

Location: Cumberland Infirmary – North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS

Pay rate: £24 – £26.78/hour

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist assessment, management and treatment to patients with communication and/or swallowing difficulties in acute and community settings.
  • Manage a specialist Speech and Language therapy caseload of adults with diverse therapy needs.
  • Participate in the coordination, development and delivery of training programmes and information packages for colleagues in health, voluntary sector organisations, and family/carers.
  • Assess, treat, plan, deliver and evaluate evidence-based specialised therapy interventions for a defined caseload.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessment of adults with diverse presentations, using investigative and analytical skills, to formulate hypotheses and determine a diagnosis.
  • Establish individualized management and treatment plans, using clinical reasoning and a range of evidence-based treatment skills and options to formulate interventions and programmes of care.
  • Promote health and reduce inequalities for adults and their families and communities, so that they may be able to maximise their potential.
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary framework to achieve integrated care for patients.
