Job summary

A prominent NHS Trust in the UK is seeking a Band 6 Rotational Speech and Language Therapist to join a supportive team. The role involves managing diverse caseloads across several medical areas, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and engaging in professional development. Ideal candidates will have dysphagia competencies and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. This is a fixed-term contract ending January 2027.

  • Participate in the Band 6 rotation to gain competencies in various clinical areas.
  • Collaborate with the Rapid Response Team and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Deliver inpatient and outpatient FEES and video fluoroscopy services.
  • Contribute to the regular teaching and training programme throughout the Trust.
  • Engage in Quality Improvement Projects and shape service development.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical, teaching and managerial skills.

Job description
Band 6 Rotational Speech and Language Therapist

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self‑motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly SLT teams. Integrated into multidisciplinary teams, you will work with a team of 18 Speech and Language Therapists and SLTAs in a supportive, dynamic environment with a reputation for developing staff.

Responsibilities
  • Support the SLT team in managing a busy caseload across Acute general medicine and elderly care (Barnet Hospital), Acute stroke (Barnet Hospital), Respiratory, surgical and critical care (Barnet Hospital) and Voice & Head & Neck cancer (Barnet Hospital, 1 session at Chase Farm Hospital).
  • Participate in the Band 6 rotation to gain competencies in elderly care, general medicine, respiratory and surgical wards (including critical care), voice & head & neck cancer service, acute stroke and specialist neurological rehabilitation (Edgware Hospital).
  • Collaborate with the Rapid Response Team and other multidisciplinary team members.
  • Deliver inpatient and outpatient FEES and video fluoroscopy services, bringing dysphagia competencies to the role.
  • Contribute to the regular teaching and training programme throughout the Trust.
  • Engage in Quality Improvement Projects and shape service development.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical, teaching and managerial skills in line with Trust values and CPD guidelines.
