About the Role

As an Auditor at FoodChain ID, you’ll play a key role in assessing food businesses for compliance with international safety and quality standards. You’ll conduct professional audits, produce clear and actionable reports, and support clients in maintaining certification and improving performance.

This is a dynamic, independent role that combines technical expertise, communication skills, and travel. You’ll work with diverse clients—from small producers to global food brands—while representing FoodChain ID’s commitment to integrity and excellence.

Please note: This role involves frequent travel across the UK and mainland Europe, with periodic long-haul assignments lasting several weeks.

What You’ll Do
  • Conduct impartial audits against a range of accredited and non-accredited food safety and quality standards.
  • Prepare clear, timely audit reports and contribute to certification recommendations or decisions.
  • Support accreditation processes (e.g., UKAS) and contribute to quality system improvements.
  • Deliver and support internal or client training on relevant standards and practices.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to colleagues and sub-contracted auditors.
  • Collaborate with Client Services and Business Development teams, offering technical insights and customer support.
  • Represent FoodChain ID professionally at client sites, industry events, and committee meetings.
  • Maintain compliance with accreditation requirements, internal policies, and timelines.
Who You Are

You’re an experienced food safety professional who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent communication and organizational skills. You’re self-driven, adaptable, and thrive in environments where no two days are the same. You enjoy sharing expertise and helping businesses improve their systems and processes.

Requirements
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the food industry, including 2 years in food safety, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance.
  • Recognized HACCP training (minimum 2 days).
  • Qualified Lead Auditor (e.g., IRCA) or completion of a BRCGS Third-Party Auditor course.
  • Experience auditing against GFSI-recognized standards (e.g., BRCGS, FSSC 22000, IFS).
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing complex travel schedules.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and online reporting tools.
  • “Train the Trainer” certification or equivalent experience is an advantage.
