Audit Senior needed for a hybrid role which can be based in either Central London or St Albans. Ideally 1+ years experience.

Location and Work Pattern

London/St Albans (Hybrid) – You may work from home or from one of the firm’s offices.

Salary

£50,000 – £55,000 per annum.

Job Overview

The firm is looking for an Audit Senior to join their London‑based practice. The role involves auditing client accounts at their premises or remotely, preparing financial statements under various accounting standards, and producing accounts for non‑audit clients. The client base includes owner‑managed businesses across manufacturing, distribution, retail, wholesale, property, FCA‑regulated entities, professional organisations, recruitment, charities and pension schemes with turnovers from below the audit threshold to above £150 million.

Key Responsibilities
  • The audit of clients’ accounts from books and records supplied, covering on‑site work at client premises or at the firm’s Rayner Essex offices.
  • Timely completion of audit files from planning through to completion.
  • Preparation of financial statements under FRS 102, IFRS, Charity SORP and other relevant standards.
  • Preparation of accounts for non‑audit clients (Limited Companies, LLPs, Charities).
  • Preparation of tax computations for corporation tax based on the prepared accounts.
  • Reporting directly to the manager on progress and developments of each assignment.
  • Liaising with the manager or client on account‑function improvements identified during audits.
  • Reconciliation of control accounts and advising the manager or client of adjustments needed.
  • Supervising on‑site audit processes, supporting and developing junior staff.
  • Reviewing junior audit work and providing timely feedback.
  • Monitoring and managing the progress of audit assignments against the original budget.
  • Carrying out ad‑hoc duties to support the smooth running of the Audit Department or to assist clients with training or general accounting and taxation matters.
Key Skills, Abilities and Personal Attributes
Essential
  • Strong previous experience in an audit role, qualified to ACA standard or equivalent.
  • Highly motivated self‑starter capable of completing assignments within time constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to convey information clearly and concisely, both verbally and via email.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, partners and clients.
  • Good organisational skills, able to multitask and set priorities to meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to delegate duties to staff and supervise client projects, sharing knowledge and providing guidance.
  • Confident IT and systems skills, experienced with accounting technology to meet client needs.
