Job Responsibilities

To assess patients within 20 minutes of arrival to ensure they are in the right place and it is safe for them to wait to be seen. To offer first aid such as analgesia, temporary dressing, sling, etc. whilst they are waiting.

  • Be a shift co‑ordinator as required.
  • Maintain own records in line with legal and departmental procedures.
  • Maintain a high standard of clinical work, which will also include teaching, supervision and leadership of junior staff, assistants, and students.
  • Participate fully in the unit work rota which will include evening, weekend, and bank holiday shifts.
  • Take a role service development and promotion.
  • Participate in team meetings, Reflect & Learn and teaching sessions.
Person Specification
Essential
  • RGN/paramedic with a minimum of 2 years post‑qualification experience
  • Experience of working in an emergency / urgent‑care setting, using triage skills
  • Ability to cope under stress, assertiveness, approachable, flexible approach to working
  • Effective communication skills in multidisciplinary settings
  • Organisation/time‑management skills
  • Ability to make decisions, prioritise and organise workload effectively
  • Ability to delegate tasks
  • Functional IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook and electronic patient records)
  • Current UK professional registration (NMC/HCPC)
  • Evidence of studying at level 6 and demonstrating professional development
  • Registered First Level Nurse or paramedic
  • Allowance for two years post‑qualification experience; experience in triage and urgent‑care setting
  • Discretion and compliance with legal and CQC standards
Desirable
  • Ability to balance management and clinical work
  • Awareness of management practice including change management and staff appraisals
  • Experience of using research, evaluation and audit and other evidence to inform practice
