Aircraft Engineering Supervisors (Mechanical and Avionics) – Wildcat

Serco is seeking Aircraft Engineering Supervisors (Wildcat) to support the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm at RNAS Yeovilton, Yeovil, Somerset. This role involves aircraft management and ground support for Wildcat aircraft, with contracts available for 38, 40, or 45 hours per week, Monday–Friday, plus optional shift work with additional shift pay.

Location: RNAS Yeovilton, Yeovil BA22 8HT.

Serco supports the Fleet Air Arm, including the Wildcat Maritime Force (WMF) at Yeovilton, delivering services from repair and maintenance of military aircraft to fuel delivery and off-aircraft support. Yeovilton is one of the Royal Navy’s principal air stations and a busy military airfield with over 100 aircraft.

This role is responsible for aircraft management and ground support for Wildcat aircraft. Our Aircraft Engineering Supervisors carry out contracted tasks to meet customer policy and regulations, and any customer complaints or quality issues and business risks should be raised with Team leads. You will also comply with The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and Customer Policy and Regulations, perform required administration, and be willing to undertake further training to develop your skills.

What you’ll need to do the role:

  • Minimum of 6 years working in an airworthiness environment with relevant experience for the Wildcat aircraft, including a minimum of 2 years hands-on experience
  • Hold or have the ability to hold Certificate of Competency for Supervisory level
  • Formal training in the Wildcat aircraft and associated trade systems
  • Good working knowledge of Wildcat Aircraft Engineering and Aircraft Systems (by Trade) and Wildcat Aircraft Servicing and Support Equipment
  • Certificate of Competency at Supervisor level
  • Understanding of Lean Operating Procedures
  • Understanding of Naval Air Publications and Compound – Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (C-IETP)
  • Adherence to Health and Safety, COSHH, Tool Control and Quality Practices
  • Understanding of Engineering and Asset Management Systems
  • Completed or able to complete Maintenance Human Factors Course
  • Understanding of rotary-wing military aviation procedures
  • Understanding of Airworthiness Engineering Safety and Compliance as per regulatory and legislative requirements (MAA)
  • Ability to work productively with initiative under tight timescales and pressure while maintaining operational outputs
  • Ability to achieve SC clearance
