Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 16:00 – with daily overtime required / until production finished

Cranswick is a leading UK food producer with revenue of over £2 Billion. We produce and supply premium food to high profile UK grocery retailers, the food service sector and other UK and global customers. Our Preston pork site is currently undergoing significant expansion, with a brand new Cold Store due to open and further investment planned for the future.

We are currently recruting for Abattoir Operatives - successful candidates will play a key part in the production process, rotating around several different tasks within the department. New starters will begin on grade 4 and have the opportunity to progress to grade 1 within the operative role, with a pay increase for each new grade obtained.

We welcome applications from experienced abattoir operatives and knife holders, as well as candidates with hospitality, labouring, and manufacturing experience.

Main Duties Include (but not limited to):
  • To assist abattoir supervisors in ensuring smooth running of day-to-day operations
  • Ensure each product specification is followed and any anomalies reported
  • Work towards daily department targets
  • Always maintain product safety and quality standards
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards
  • Maintain clean and tidy work area
What We Look For:
  • Knife skills (highly desirable)
  • Previous experience working in food production / manufacturing / butchery / chef
  • Factory / warehouse / labouring experience also considered
  • Willingness to learn all aspects of the role through training
  • Strong work ethic, team player, attention to detail, physical stamina
  • Recognise health and safety and animal welfare as a top priority
