Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Dumfries and Galloway for a highly motivated and organised Parkinson’s Nurse Specialist to join our Neurology team. This role is pivotal in delivering expert clinical care and guidance for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease and related movement disorders across the region.

Based within our specialist service, you will support a growing caseload of patients, working closely with the speciality leads and the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT). You will play a key role in enhancing communication between primary and secondary care teams, ensuring continuity and quality of care for patients throughout their journey.

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Providing specialist nursing input and clinical assessment for patients with Parkinson’s disease.
  • Supporting and supervising advanced therapies, including device‑aided treatments and medication management.
  • Acting as an autonomous practitioner, developing and implementing individualised care plans.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Promoting education and awareness of Parkinson’s disease within the wider healthcare team.

You will primarily support outpatients, day cases, and inpatients undergoing investigation and treatment.

Shift Pattern: 7.5‑hour shifts over 3 days (22.3 hours per week)
