Key responsibilities include inspecting and repairing the vehicle fleet. Applicants should have significant experience with HGVs and relevant qualifications. The role offers flexible working hours, excellent training opportunities, and a supportive culture. Applications are welcome from individuals committed to integrity and teamwork.
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the country’s leading Fire and Rescue Services, maintaining our fire appliances and ensuring our dedicated firefighters arrive safely at incidents to save lives. Based at our Technical Hub in Hartlepool, you will have the opportunity to work across the Cleveland area to carry out the inspection, repair and maintenance of the Brigade's fleet of vehicles and associated operational equipment.
Candidates must have considerable experience in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles, mainly HGV’s and possess a recognised apprenticeship in Heavy Goods Vehicle maintenance with City and Guilds Parts 1, 2 and 3 Motor craft studies (or Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship or equivalent level relevant qualification). A category C driving license would be desirable, however with the support of CFB, the right candidate could work towards this licence. A current full driving licence is essential.
You will also be required to participate in the standby rota system, which is one week in five and in return you will receive an additional payment on top of the annual salary. Our standard hours of work are 8.00am-4.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am-3.30pm Friday. There is a 5.00pm finish when on call.
You will work in a modern clean workshop environment and have access to the latest equipment to maintain our fleet. We invest in our staff and provide both in-house and external training including:
Joining a first-rate organisation, you will have the job satisfaction of knowing each day that you are contributing to the success of one of the top performing fire and rescue services in the UK, supporting firefighters who work round the clock to protect local communities and save lives. No two days are the same, one minute you could be carrying out pre-planned maintenance on a frontline fire engine and the next you could be supporting operational crews on the fire ground.
We are a caring organisation, promote an environment of inclusivity and learning and welcome people from all walks of life - just as long as you can show commitment to our values such as integrity and teamwork.
If you can meet this challenge, we want to hear from you.
