Volunteering Support Leader

This role will logistically and administratively aid the integration of volunteers within our Direct Services Construction teams. Experience in construction/maintenance environments is beneficial to identify suitable volunteering opportunities.

Key responsibilities

  • Recruit and engage new volunteers through meet & greets, open days, and community outreach.
  • Integrate new volunteers into regional construction teams, coordinate inductions and training.
  • Liaise with Construction Managers and Site Supervisors to identify needs and opportunities.
  • Support volunteer training, PPE and equipment requirements.
  • Assist with day‑to‑day scheduling of volunteering support on key construction projects.
  • Ensure correct volunteer engagement processes are followed.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or BTEC Level 3 in an appropriate subject or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with and leading volunteers.
  • Basic IT skills and comfortable with mobile devices for calls and data entry.
  • Valid UK driving licence is essential.
  • Great communication and customer service awareness; the face of the Trust on waterways.
  • Experience in a relevant outdoor or environmental setting.
