Job description
Veterinary Surgeon – Full Time – South East London

A modern, recently refurbished first‑opinion practice in South East London is excited to welcome a new Veterinary Surgeon to the team. This is a wonderful opportunity to join a friendly, community‑focused practice where your ideas, growth, and wellbeing truly matter.

About the Role:

This cat‑friendly practice has gone from strength to strength following a complete refurbishment, now featuring two spacious consult rooms, a large, well‑organised pharmacy, and a bright, comfortable reception area with separate dog and cat waiting zones – designed with both clients and patients in mind.

The successful candidate will work alongside a highly experienced Senior Vet and a supportive team of Registered Veterinary Nurses and Trainees, creating an environment where collaboration and learning thrives. You’ll also benefit from the backing of a dedicated regional manager and a 24‑hour hospital nearby, which provides out‑of‑hours services for your patients, ensuring continuity of care and excellent support.

For those with a particular interest in feline medicine, or any other specialism – this role offers genuine opportunity to develop your expertise with generous CPD funding and full encouragement to pursue certificates.

Working Hours & Rota

The rota consists of a four‑day working week, with Wednesdays off and an early finish on Fridays, ensuring a great work‑life balance. You’ll take part in a 1:4 Saturday rota at the branch and a 1:8 Sunday rotation at the hospital, with up to two bank holidays per year. There is also a last‑resort on‑call rotation, though this is rarely required.

Location

Perfectly situated in South East London, the practice enjoys easy access to excellent transport links, including direct rail connections across the city. The area combines urban convenience with nearby green spaces and charming neighbourhoods full of independent shops, cafés, and restaurants – offering the best of both city life and calm retreat.

Rewards and Benefits
  • Salary: £45,000 – £61,000 FTE (depending on experience, with room for growth)
  • 6.6 weeks’ annual leave, including bank holidays
  • Up to £2,000 CPD budget per year, plus 5 days’ paid CPD leave
  • Private medical insurance
  • Opportunities for certificate study and career progression
  • Supportive and inclusive culture focused on wellbeing and personal development
Requirements

You must be a qualified Veterinary Surgeon and eligible to register with the RCVS to be considered for this role. Visa sponsorship is available.
