Overview

Registered Veterinary Nurse or 2nd Year Student Veterinary Nurse – Exciting Opportunity in South West London

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse or a 2nd Year Student Veterinary Nurse to join a thriving, independent-minded small animal practice that has just undergone a stunning refurbishment and expansion. With brand-new facilities, a supportive team, and genuine opportunities for growth, this is the perfect time to become part of a practice entering an exciting new chapter.

About the Practice

This friendly, well-established surgery has grown significantly under the leadership of its long-standing owner, who qualified over 25 years ago. The team prides itself on its stability and family feel — many have been with the practice for 6–10 years, fostering a welcoming and collaborative environment.

Following the expansion, the practice now boasts six consult rooms, two operating theatres, a dental suite with dental X-ray, a dedicated imaging room (digital X-ray, ultrasound, and rigid endoscope), and a brand-new pharmacy. The facilities also include separate dog, cat, exotic, and isolation wards alongside distinct waiting areas, ensuring the highest standards of patient comfort and care.

The caseload is wonderfully varied — while cats, dogs, and rabbits make up most of the patients, the team also sees an exciting range of exotic species. One of the vets is studying towards a certificate in exotic medicine, and two of the RVNs are pursuing further qualifications in exotic nursing.

About You

This is the ideal opportunity for a proactive, positive, and passionate veterinary nurse who wants to be part of a growing, forward-thinking team. You’ll bring enthusiasm, empathy, and great communication skills, with a commitment to providing gold-standard care for both patients and clients.

For student applicants, you’ll need:

  • A secured college placement

  • A Level 2 Diploma for Veterinary Care Assistants

  • Previous experience working in a veterinary practice

  • A passion for learning and developing your skills

Whether you’re an experienced RVN ready for a fresh challenge or a student nurse eager to grow, you’ll find the environment incredibly supportive, with genuine encouragement for professional development and career progression.

The Role
  • Full-time position, 40 hours per week

  • 1 in 4 weekends, with no OOH or bank holiday work – ensuring excellent work/life balance

  • A diverse role encompassing anaesthetic monitoring, inpatient care, nurse consults, radiography, ultrasonography, stock control, and schedule 3 procedures

What’s on Offer
  • Competitive salary up to £35,000, depending on experience

  • Generous CPD opportunities, including funded certificates

  • RCVS, BVNA, and VDS memberships paid

  • Contributory pension scheme

  • Exclusive discounts – including 20% off at Pets at Home, The Groom Room, and Vet Group services

  • Regular social events and a genuine focus on wellbeing

  • A friendly, inclusive workplace that encourages individuality and personal growth

This is a brilliant opportunity to join a talented, close-knit team at a key moment in their journey — in a modern, fully equipped practice with an enviable reputation for quality and compassion.
