Capability and Training Co‑ordinator – Fixed Term Maternity Cover

The Resourcing Team is responsible for ensuring that the correct level of vehicle resources and drivers are in place at the terminals. Reporting to the Lead Resource Manager, the Capability and Training Co‑ordinator will support the department in delivering world‑class customer service standards by planning all periodic training and testing, and meeting capability demands of drivers at all locations. The job holder will also identify long‑term resource requirements in advance to initiate recruitment or advance capability training where necessary.

Hours of work

09:00 – 17:30, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week) with a one‑hour unpaid lunch break per day.

Key Duties
  • Maintain medium and long‑term awareness of the resource requirements across all fuel contracts, including the capabilities of drivers, vehicles and trailers.
  • When there is a recruitment need, coordinate with Operations Transport Managers to advise them of the dates for which new starters are required to commence training.
  • Coordinate all periodic driver training, including annual refreshers and defensive driving training, and, in conjunction with the Operations Training Manager, plan and arrange all driver ADR renewals.
  • Coordinate all routine driver medicals, random drug and alcohol tests and terminal inductions, booking these annually for the calendar year ahead.
  • Liaise with the planning team to coordinate Driver Training Instructor (DTI) resources for Site Route Risk Assessment (SRRA) reviews.
  • On a weekly basis provide the SHEQ Administrator with a single national training plan.
  • Maintain a driver capability matrix, including loading cards, and plan training accordingly so that driver capability aligns with forecasted requirements.
  • Ensure strict adherence to driving training refresher dates.
