Job description

Temporary Works Co-ordinator role at Balfour Beatty plc.

About The Role

Do you want to be at the forefront of one of the world’s most ambitious sustainability initiatives? Balfour Beatty has created iconic buildings and infrastructure over the past 115 years, redefining excellence and setting the industry benchmark with every project. As a result, alongside several consortium partners, Balfour Beatty has been selected by bp (British Petroleum) to construct a first‑of‑a‑kind fully integrated gas‑fired power station with carbon capture and storage, a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster. Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Temporary Works Co-ordinator to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our new site in Redcar and Cleveland.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with all parties involved in the design and construction of temporary works;
  • Liaise with clients to determine if schemes may affect the public and to ascertain approval process and certification required;
  • Compile and periodically update a Temporary Works Schedule (TWS) with all relevant information and review the schedule with the Temporary Works Designer (TWD) and Project Lead;
  • Ensure that an adequate Temporary Works design is carried out;
  • Supervise and assess the competence of the TWS with the Project Lead;
  • Prepare/review the design brief for adequacy/completeness prior to issuing to TWD;
  • Ensure that the duration for temporary works designs, checking and construction are realistically timed in the construction programme;
  • Ensure that the completed designs are obtained from the TWD within the required deadline;
  • Discuss any changes to the design with the TWD and manage the design change process.
Qualifications

The role requires a competent balance of experience, knowledge, training and qualifications. We are looking for someone with experience on a project similar to NZT. It is desirable, although not essential, to have formal qualifications such as HNC or a Degree.

Benefits
  • Company Pension scheme with an employer contribution up to 7% plus inclusive life assurance;
  • 25 days annual leave per annum with the option to purchase additional days;
  • Family‑friendly policies including 28 weeks full pay for maternity/adoption leave and 4 weeks full pay for paternity/partner's leave;
