Job summary

A local educational institution in the East Midlands is seeking a compassionate Teaching and Learning Assistant. This position requires working with children who have additional needs to help them learn both in groups and individually. Strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and a Level 2 Teaching and Learning qualification are essential. Candidates with experience in KS1 or Special School settings are preferred. Qualifications

Position: Teaching and Learning Assistant

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching and Learning Assistant to join our supportive team. You will work with a range of children who have additional needs both in groups and on a 1:1 basis. It is essential that candidates have a good general education, are literate and numerate and are able to communicate well orally and in writing. Successful candidates are required to hold a Teaching and Learning Assistants Level 2 qualification or above. The start date is February 2026 or as soon as available after.

Responsibilities and Expectations

We are looking for members of staff who are well organised, enjoy working with children and who are able to challenge, motivate and care for each pupil as an individual and foster independence.

Good communication skills and the ability to work flexibly as part of a team are essential for this role.

Experience of working with children with ASD and ADHD is desirable, as is experience of working with parents.

As a junior school we also value staff who have KS1 or Special School experience, although not essential.
