A leading independent school in Greater London is seeking a well-qualified Teacher of Geography. The ideal candidate will deliver engaging and high-quality lessons, support students in achieving their full potential, and partake in the school community through co-curricular activities. Applicants should have a good degree in Geography and experience teaching at GCSE and A Level. The position offers a supportive work environment with opportunities for professional development, good pension provision, and free lunches.
Emanuel School is seeking a well-qualified Teacher of Geography to join our thriving teaching community.
The success of Emanuel’s Geography Department is built on a combination of specialist teachers with a deep knowledge and love of their subject and motivated pupils with high aspirations. We are looking for someone who can deliver engaging teaching with rigour, helping pupils to achieve their full potential while also contributing to our varied and exciting schemes of work for the lower school.
You will plan, prepare and teach high-quality lessons, creating a challenging and stimulating classroom environment that will motivate pupils to learn, think independently, take risks and perform to the best of their abilities. As well as delivering excellent classroom teaching, all staff at Emanuel undertake a pastoral role (as a form tutor, or as a co-tutor if an ECT) and get involved in the wider life of the school through co-curricular activities and outreach programmes.
We are looking for an individual with strong subject knowledge, who is looking to develop their teaching practice within a leading independent school. You will need a good degree in Geography and have experience teaching the subject at GCSE and A Level. We welcome applications from both experienced teachers as well as ECTs.
There is always a buzz at Emanuel. Colleagues enjoy their work and, like the pupils, are ambitious for the school. With a weekly staff briefing, half termly staff meetings, termly consultative group meetings and a common room committee, all of us are engaged in a lively ongoing dialogue about the school’s aims and aspirations.
Everyone works hard here, and anyone joining us should expect to do the same and share our commitment to the highest standards. At the same time our ethos remains unpretentious, kindly and practical, and there’s a strong sense of community and friendship at the school.
We aim to look after our staff well: we have an appraisal scheme with a focus on employees’ professional development; we sponsor postgraduate courses and a range of training opportunities; we offer salary sacrifice childcare vouchers through TEDS Premier, we offer a healthcare plan via Simply Health that includes counselling and medical support; and we’re committed to supporting staff wellbeing. Financially, all staff benefit from good pension provision and free lunches.
