The Thales UK Integrated Airspace‑Protection Systems business unit in Belfast is looking for an experienced Tactical Buyer to manage a personal purchasing budget of up to £1M. The role involves ensuring that all materials procured meet required specifications, focusing on quality, delivery, price and other contractual conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Generate and issue Purchase Orders (POs) using Thales ERP and procurement systems.
  • Sign and approve purchase orders within delegation of authority limits.
  • Coordinate all invoice and account queries related to POs to ensure smooth cash flow.
  • Negotiate purchase pricing and terms and conditions.
  • Support the assessment and appraisal of new and existing suppliers.
  • Work with the global Thales Procurement community to secure the best procurement solutions.
  • Issue Request for Quotations (RFQs) for programme and bid requirements.
  • Interface with internal functions and stakeholders to meet requirements.
  • Determine and manage the export control status of incoming material.
  • Support preparation and management of business reviews with suppliers.
  • Capture, develop and improve supplier performance.
  • Comply with Thales procurement processes.
Technical Skills and Experience
  • Experience in a Manufacturing Buyer role or similar purchasing background.
  • Proficiency with an ERP system.
  • General commercial knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Demonstrated influencing and negotiation skills, with strong communication across all business levels.
  • MCIPS or equivalent qualification desirable; commitment to pursue MCIPS essential.
Security Clearance
