Hydrofix, part of RSK Group, is hiring for a Subsea Cable Risk and GIS Lead. Hydrofix is a UK‑based offshore geoscience consultancy supporting renewable energy, telecommunications, and power projects worldwide. Located in Tattenhall, Cheshire, our expert team delivers full project lifecycle support from feasibility to construction.

We are seeking an individual to lead our subsea cable risk practice and the overall GIS discipline, primarily focusing on telecommunications, HVDC/HVAC interconnectors and offshore wind. This key leadership role provides an opportunity for an individual to make a meaningful impact on the energy transition. The incumbent will work closely within multidisciplinary teams to plan, engineer and construct offshore transmission and wind infrastructure for leading developers and TSOs.

The ideal candidate is an experienced professional capable of excelling at a Principal level, with potential to progress to Associate Director. The position is full‑time with flexible working arrangements, based out of our network of RSK offices, with time spent at the Hydrofix Cheshire location to drive collaboration and technical development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical leadership and development of our subsea cable risk discipline offering
  • Technical leadership, development and ownership of our GIS capabilities
  • GIS and WebGIS application development for subsea cable, survey management and ground modelling projects
  • GIS support and development for wider RSK marine initiatives in fisheries, EIA and blue carbon
  • Authoring, reviewing and approving subsea cable planning, routing and cable burial risk assessments
  • Producing thought leadership, white papers and technical papers for peer review
  • Technical document reviews
  • Technical data QC analysis, gap analysis and presentation
  • Attending client meetings
  • Attending industry and sector‑specific exhibitions and conferences
Person Specification
  • A combination of geoscience, geography, GIS/geomatics undergraduate and higher degrees
  • Strong understanding of geoscience data in the marine environment
  • Demonstrable track record and experience in the subsea cable and broader offshore energy sector
  • A strong desire for continued professional development and either chartered status or in the process of achieving it
  • Able to develop and advocate for novel technical developments
  • Customer‑facing, with excellent relationship‑management skills
  • Expertise in a broad range of GIS software, including ArcGIS Pro, Global Mapper, QGIS
  • Experience in management and analysis of large data in GIS, including the use of SQL databases
  • Right to work in the UK and preferably also the EU
