Overview

Join to apply for the Staff Nurse (CIC) role at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Band 5 Staff Nurse, Stroke Unit. An exciting opportunity to join the team on Elm A/HASU, providing high quality patient care within a multidisciplinary environment focused on acute stroke care and stroke/neuro rehabilitation.

The department operates a 10 bedded hyper acute stroke unit and 33 acute stroke and neuro rehabilitation beds. The stroke team delivers care to patients in the acute and rehabilitation phases following a stroke and provides neuro-rehabilitation care after head injury.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high quality, safe nursing care driven by patient experience and evidence-based practice.
  • Work across the ward on both the hyper acute stroke unit and rehabilitation areas within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Collaborate with specialist nursing teams, medical staff and therapists to deliver individualized stroke and neuro-rehabilitation care.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Previous experience nursing stroke patients or patients with tracheostomy is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
  • Commitment to delivering excellent standards of nursing care to a diverse patient group with complex needs.
  • Willingness to develop knowledge and skills in stroke and rehabilitation.

  • Preceptorship: The Trust offers a twelve month preceptorship period for New to Registration Nurses/Midwives and Allied Health Professionals; a preceptorship is available for those returning to practice or moving into new roles.
