Job description

Aramark UK are currently recruiting for a Sous Chef to join our team at Kinloss Barracks.

You will be responsible for the day‑to‑day running of the shifts when the Head Chef is not present, producing up to 1000 meals at a time. You will be well organised and be able to work well under pressure.

To be eligible for this role, due to the sector requirements: you must have been a UK resident for the past 3 years and have legal right to work in the UK and be able to pass full security vetting and DBS checks.

  • This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, 5 days a week. Shifts vary on a rota basis, mainly Monday to Friday leaving your evenings free - a rarity when you work within culinary/hospitality.
  • Hourly rate is £14.

A day in the life of a Sous Chef:
  • You will be running shifts and guiding your team when the Head Chef is not present, producing up to 1000 meals at a time – so organisation and the ability to thrive under pressure is required.
  • You will be organising and supporting your team to ensure a smooth operation daily, allocating tasks so that your team and time are fully utilised.
  • You will be producing food in line with recipe sheets, and have full knowledge of all menu items served, including allergen information.
  • Management of production and food levels to ensure minimal wastage. You will also be placing orders and keeping records of any stock wastage, alongside receiving deliveries, and ensuring they are stored correctly, and the FIFO method is followed.
  • Carrying out deep cleans daily / weekly alongside your team, ensuring all staff are fully trained on their sections and have undertaken any relevant training as required.
You will be set up for success if you have:
  • Must have resided in the UK for the past 3 years and have legal right to work
  • Must be able to pass full security vetting and DBS checks
  • Relevant culinary qualification and at least 2 years on the job experience acting as either a Sous or a Senior CDP
  • A trade test will be required for the interview
