Job Description

Soil and Agriculture Consultant – Cambridge or Leeds (or other UK offices). Join AECOM’s Nature team to shape sustainable land use with a flexible hybrid working model and a supportive, mentorship‑rich environment.

In this role you will collaborate with forestry, GIS, engineering, and sustainability disciplines on projects in power and renewables, infrastructure, restoration and environmental policy, including large solar farms, residential developments and national grid upgrades.

What You’ll Do
  • Integrate into the team’s health, safety, and well‑being culture.
  • Support liaison with project managers and clients on soil and agricultural land components of multi‑disciplinary tenders.
  • Organise and conduct desk studies and field soil surveys (including augering and excavation).
  • Assist with managing technical and financial performance to meet budgets and deadlines.
  • Analyse, evaluate, interpret, and present soils data through reports and management plans.
  • Communicate effectively with line manager, teammates and related land‑based disciplines.
  • Maintain compliance with internal business management procedures, including health, safety, and technical quality.
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in environmental science, agriculture, soil science or related field (practice‑based experience acceptable).
  • Experience in soil surveying for agricultural land classification.
  • Comfortable speaking to farmers, landowners and land agents, including face‑to‑face meetings.
  • Willingness to work field‑based time, including travel or overnight stays Dessa climate conditions.
  • Strong report‑writing abilities with experience in producing diverse reports and management plans.
