Job Title - Freelance Senior Video Producer
Location - London

The i Paper is expanding its social video team at a pivotal moment of growth. We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Video Producer to help lead our daily video output across social platforms, shaping how The i Paper covers the biggest stories of the day.

About the role

As a Senior Video Producer, you’ll oversee news and reactive video commissioning, provide editorial and technical feedback, and stand in for the Head of Social Video when needed. You’ll play a key role in driving forward planning, developing the team’s shooting and editing skills, and ensuring our video content is sharp, timely and on brand.

You’ll also attend the morning conference, set the agenda for news‑led video content, and coordinate early requests from journalists and editors to support on‑the‑day (OTD) video production.

Key responsibilities
  • Commission and oversee the production of news and reactive social video, ensuring quality, accuracy and editorial relevance.
  • Provide creative, editorial and technical feedback on videos produced by the team.
  • Stand in for the Head of Social Video at meetings or planning sessions where required.
  • Lead forward planning for video coverage of upcoming stories and events.
  • Attend our morning news conference, setting out priorities and opportunities for video content each day.
  • Coordinate with reporters and editors to ensure early requests and OTD video needs are supported.
  • Offer technical advice and training to help the team develop their shooting and editing skills.
  • Collaborate with social and editorial colleagues to refine video formats and optimise reach across platforms.
  • Assist with the development of new video series intended to grow The i Paper’s brand off‑platform
  • Strong background in short‑form social video production, ideally within a newsroom or fast‑paced digital media environment.
  • Excellent editorial judgement and understanding of how to tell stories visually.
  • Confident managing and mentoring other producers.
  • Skilled in scripting, editing and publishing for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube Shorts.
  • Collaborative, organised and comfortable juggling multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Familiarity with Premiere Pro or similar editing tools.

  • Freelance position, with flexible shift patterns available.
  • Based in our London office, with some remote work possible.
  • Occasional use of your own filming equipment may be required.
