Job summary

A local animal welfare organization is seeking social media volunteers to promote activities and raise vital funds for cats. Volunteers will create engaging content across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok. Ideal candidates will have good IT and communication skills, as well as experience in marketing and social media. Support will be provided remotely by a team leader and the organization. Our social media volunteers use their passion and knowledge to promote the activities of the centre and raise vital funds for the cats, through various channels such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.

You will be directly helping cats by raising awareness of Cats Protection. A higher profile can help us raise the funds we need for our work, ensure people know they can adopt a cat from us, help promote neutering and help as many people as possible learn more about feline welfare.

What will you be doing?

Through our social media platforms, you will be promoting the work of Cats Protection, gathering information from across the organisation and locally within your team or volunteer group, writing and creating social media content, ensuring it complies with policies and guidelines, scheduling and posting social media content and monitoring activity and responding to comments on social media channels. You will be volunteering from your own home but have the support from your volunteer team leader, the admissions centre and the social team.

Qualifications
  • A passion for social media and experience of using social media channels in a professional setting
  • Knowledge of the advantages and disadvantages of using social media
  • Good IT skills
  • Excellent writing skills, including good grammar and spelling
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to be part of a team
  • Knowledge of the local area and an understanding of the demographic there
