Job description

Do you have experience working in a library or information environment? Do you have supervisory experience? Can you allocate work, set priorities, and monitor team performance? If yes, then this fixed term post may be ideal for you.

In this role you will supervise, coordinate, support and develop the work of the Academic Library Services (hub) team, working closely with the Academic Library Services Manager and Open Research Manager. You will coordinate with colleagues across matrix Library Services Teams to contribute to section-wide service improvements, ensuring delivery of resources as required by Academic Schools. The Academic Library Services Supervisor will support the development, maintenance, and delivery of services to understand resource requirements for education and research.

As an Academic Library Services Supervisor, you can expect to be involved in:
  • Line-managing the Academic Library Services Administrator Team and be responsible for planning and prioritising team resource to ensure resilient and efficient delivery of academic-focussed services, including enquiry triage rotas, training, guidance, and events
  • Efficiently coordinating the work of the Academic Library Services Team, working closely with the Academic Library Services Manager and Open Research Manager allocating work, setting priorities, monitoring team performance, and delivering on business-critical operations
  • Coordinating with the Open Research Team, enabling the team to support the management of Kent’s research, delivering excellent research support services to Academic Schools
  • Attending internal and external meetings, collaborating across Library Services, representing, and promoting services to extend their use, effectiveness and impact in education and research
What will you bring to the role?
  • GCSE (A-C 9-5) English and Maths, A levels, NVQ Level 3 or alternative equivalent qualifications
  • Experience working in a similar role in a library or information environment
  • Experience of applying policies, regulations, and best practice to support service delivery and development
  • Comprehensive experience of engagement and liaison work practices, and how processes and procedures can support with engagement and liaison service delivery
