Job summary

A leading technology consultancy in London is seeking a Senior Technical Business Analyst specialized in regulatory reporting. The role demands extensive knowledge of financial regulations and involves collaboration across technology and business teams. Ideal candidates should have regulatory reporting experience and proficiency in SQL and Excel. This position offers a hybrid working model and a contract for an initial 6 months with possible extensions.

Qualifications

  • Solid working knowledge of reporting regulations across global jurisdictions including ESMA, MAS, ASIC, MiFID II, SFTR and Solvency II.
  • Extensive experience of Regulatory Trade and/or Transaction Reporting with venues such as UnaVista and DTCC.
  • Experience with data mapping and proficiency using technical tools such as Excel, SQL, XML including XPath and XSLT.

Role Description

Principal Business Analyst – Financial Regulations & Regulatory Reporting. Location: London. Hybrid working model – 3 days from the client office in Central London. Contract inside IR 35/ fixed term contract for initially 6 months with possible extensions. Candidates with shorter notice periods and full work authorization in the UK will be given preference.

Role Overview

A Principal/Senior Business Analyst with a deep understanding of financial regulations and regulatory reporting to deliver high quality analysis and understanding of regulations and how the client business adheres to them. The client needs someone to analyse the reporting requirements across global jurisdictions and work with the wider technology teams to define business and technical requirements to deliver appropriate reporting solutions. Where appropriate, act as an SME and support the Regulatory Reporting Business. You’ll need to be flexible, approachable, a good communicator and work well in teams spanning both technology and the business.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct technical analysis of regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with colleagues across technology and the business to assess the impact of regulatory changes on existing processes, systems, and controls
  • Work closely with stakeholders to define and document technical requirements, ensuring alignment with regulatory needs
  • Perform gap analysis and impact assessments to identify necessary changes to policies, procedures and systems
  • Support the implementation of regulatory change initiatives and drive the resolution of any issues or challenges
  • Proactively identify potential risks and opportunities
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and industry associations where required
  • Balance fast delivery with the need for longer‑term sustainable solutions
  • Engage actively in Agile planning, including story refinement, demos and retrospectives
  • Support other team members to improve their analytical skills

The Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications You Need

  • Solid working knowledge of reporting regulations across global jurisdictions including ESMA, MAS, ASIC, MiFID II, SFTR and Solvency II
  • Extensive experience of Regulatory Trade and/or Transaction Reporting with venues such as UnaVista and DTCC
  • Working knowledge of Trade Lifecycle, Middle Office Operations and Financial Regulatory Reporting
  • Experience with data mapping and proficiency using technical tools such as Excel, SQL, XML including XPath and XSLT
  • Ability to facilitate active interactions between technical and non‑technical teams
  • Agile delivery experience around gathering technical requirements and breaking them into features and user stories
  • Excellent written and spoken English with strong communication skills to build and maintain relationships
  • Comfortable engaging with stakeholders within the business and technology when required
  • Experience with DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO)

The Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications That Will Help

  • Experience with industry standards such as Solvency II and ISO20022
  • Solid understanding of OTC Derivatives
  • Experience working in an Agile (Scrum) environment
  • Excellent ability to communicate how the Technology team contributes to the wider business and Global Technology strategies
  • Good knowledge and experience of Financial Services focused on core Fund Operations, Fund Management and reporting
  • Experience working with global colleagues and stakeholders – paying particular attention to cultural differences, time zones and et al
  • Exposure to testing frameworks would be useful
