Senior Speech and Language Therapist – Neurological Rehabilitation

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join a specialist neurological rehabilitation service in Gloucester. The service provides 24-hour nursing and therapy support for adults with complex, long-term neurological conditions, focusing on slow-stream rehabilitation and maximising independence, communication and quality of life.

About the Service

The centre supports up to 60 residents and delivers specialist care for individuals with complex neurological needs. Facilities include fully adapted bedrooms with high-dependency equipment, well-equipped therapy suites, gardens, gym facilities and community transport, creating an environment that supports rehabilitation, dignity and long-term wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a specialist caseload, delivering high-quality assessment, intervention and outcome evaluation
  • Provide expert Speech and Language Therapy input for individuals with acquired communication and swallowing disorders
  • Lead group and individual therapy sessions to support recovery and independence
  • Contribute to audits, research activity and service development
  • Provide clinical supervision and support to junior staff and therapy assistants
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic, person-centred care
  • Maintain high standards of clinical documentation, confidentiality and governance

Person Specification
Essential
  • HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist
  • Experience managing a caseload involving dysphagia assessment and treatment
  • Experience working with adults with complex neurological conditions
  • Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development
  • Strong communication and team-working skills
Desirable
  • Experience in rehabilitation or long-term neurological care
  • Experience supervising junior staff or students
