We are at the forefront of innovative maritime planning, design and development, assisting clients worldwide with port projects, feasibility studies, master plans, and designs. Our Mechanical Engineering team specialises in the feasibility, design, and specification of mechanical equipment packages and systems within Ports, Shipyards, and Container Terminals.

What You Will Do as a Senior BIM Modeller

As a Senior BIM Modeller with 5‑10 years’ experience, you will work as part of the Mechanical Team to help deliver multi‑disciplinary projects. Projects vary in size and complexity, providing a variety of challenges. Your work will primarily be completed in Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Civil 3D, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.

  • Lead the development of detailed models for mechanical utility systems within maritime environments (both underground and aboveground).
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure accurate and coordinated designs.
  • Manage and maintain BIM standards and software component libraries, ensuring compliance with project and industry requirements.
  • Oversee clash detection, model audits, quality assurance processes and contribute to BIM Execution Plans.
  • Mentor junior modellers and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Plan, organise and manage work packages or projects.
  • Travel in the UK and abroad for short assignments (as per project requirements).

Develop IFC shared parameter files and classification of model elements to IFC schemas.

Candidate Specification

We are seeking an experienced Senior BIM Modeller with preferably some knowledge of Mechanical Engineering. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting‑edge projects that shape the future of marine equipment, infrastructure and facilities. A proportion of work projects are likely to involve UK Ministry of Defence; candidates must be eligible for SC (Security Check) clearance.

  • Proficiency in Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Navisworks and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
  • Solid understanding of ISO 19650 workflows and BIM Execution Plans (BEPs).
  • Logical approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to undertake tasks independently and efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
  • Hands‑on experience with model federation, issue tracking, and clash detection.
  • Preferably experience in mechanical drawings, pipework, schematics, etc.
  • Desirable extras: BIM certifications, familiarity with 4D/5D BIM for sequencing and cost estimation, and experience with data visualisation tools.
  • Preferably a Full Driving Licence.
  • Willingness to travel to other UK offices.

Locations

The role will be based in one of our Edinburgh, Exeter, Liverpool, Newcastle, or Peterborough offices. Travel between offices and occasional travel to client offices in the UK and abroad will be required.
