We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Inpatient Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Preston, a category B Prison located in Preston. HMP Preston is a remand male prison age 18+ with a capacity of 680.

You will have experience in working within a inpatient setting or ward based, end of life / palliative care experience.

Hours
  • Monday - Friday
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • 8am - 4pm over 5 days or
  • 7.30am - 5.30pm over 4 days
Salary

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary between £43,609 - £49,175 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

What you’ll be doing

As an Senior Inpatient Nurse your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • You will be innovative, bringing fresh ideas and solutions to the challenges of providing healthcare in a prison
  • See patients at beginning and end of their time in prisons, both are times of transition in the community and require a coordinated.pa approach to continuity of care with other services
  • Work closely with external stakeholders to develop pathways that prevent patients having to attend outside hospital including but not exclusively end of life care and acute care
  • Assist with the development of patients medical plans of care, line manage a team of healthcare practitioners ensuring that they are supported and appraised
  • Ability to function autonomously and within your sphere of competency, working within a team of healthcare practitioners you must be able to prioritise your own workload, caseload and be able to demonstrate the ability to problem solve
