A leading independent healthcare provider in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Healthcare Assistant to join their nursing department on a flexible bank shift basis. The ideal candidate will deliver patient-centered care, assist with clinical procedures, and support junior staff. This role requires NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care and experience in a clinical setting. Offering competitive pay up to £13.00 per hour.

Sarum Road Hospital (Winchester) – Bank shifts – Salary: up to £13.00 per hour (depending on level of experience, training and qualification).

We have an opportunity for a Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our nursing department. Chestnut Ward offers a range of elective inpatient and day‑case services including orthopaedics, urology, gynaecology, ophthalmology, general surgery, maxillofacial, and other procedures.

As a fully flexible bank staff member you will support staffing levels during busy periods, provide cover for staff on leave or absence, and gain experience in the independent healthcare sector.

Duties of this role
  • Deliver person‑centred care including assisting with personal hygiene, nutrition, mobility, toileting, and emotional support.
  • Carry out basic clinical tasks such as monitoring vital signs, blood glucose levels, and patient observations (following training and competency).
  • Assist with clinical procedures and the preparation of equipment and materials.
  • Report any changes in a patient’s condition to the nursing team promptly.
  • Act as a role model and mentor to junior healthcare assistants, supporting their development and integration into the team.
  • Help coordinate the daily allocation of tasks, ensuring care is prioritised appropriately.
Applicants should meet the following criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification/experience).
  • Experience working as a Healthcare Assistant in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Ability to carry out delegated clinical tasks safely and confidently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to support and supervise junior staff members.
