The role will be based at our site office in Glen Mor, Invergarry, near Fort Augustus, and will require frequent travel to the Isle of Skye (company car provided).

The project involves a 137km, 132kV double circuit overhead line connecting the existing Fort Augustus and Edinbane substations to new sealing end compounds that link the overhead line to the underground network, ultimately bringing mainland electricity to the Isle of Skye and the Western Isles.

Responsibilities
  • Implement Business Unit Zero Harm strategy and lead the delivery of the Zero Harm Action Plan to embed a culture where health is treated as safety.
  • Provide expert HS&W technical advice, guidance and support to project teams.
  • Collaboratively engage with internal & external customers and the supply chain to promote zero harm delivery.
  • Develop, document and review a bespoke risk‑based Service Level Agreement for each project, ensuring compliance with the UK regulatory framework and the BMS.
  • Conduct regular site inspections per the project risk matrix and produce formal reports using the Project Portal.
  • Maintain Health and Safety Risk Management records, ensuring risks and opportunities are identified and acted upon.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near‑miss events in line with Balfour Beatty Group Standards and BMS requirements.
  • Support work‑winning teams with quality HS&W responses for bids, proposals and PQQs for future projects.
  • Engage and develop relationships with design & engineering teams to eliminate and reduce HS&W risk through design.
  • Innovate and improve processes to keep pace with industry change and promote successes.
  • Mentor and support other HSW colleagues in their professional development.
Qualifications
