The Role and the Team

Blue Light Card is expanding rapidly, and we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to join our Technology department. You’ll bring experience working as a Senior Engineering Manager in a high-performing, product-led agile organization, supporting multiple teams with empathy, clarity and a collaborative mindset.

You’ll lead one of our engineering teams and be responsible for championing inclusive agile practices, guiding the delivery of high-quality solutions, and supporting technical operations so your team can achieve the best outcomes for our members. Collaboration sits at the heart of how we work. We partner closely with Product in an agile squad structure, focusing on shared goals such as share of wallet, personalisation, member growth & engagement, and platform evolution.

What You’ll Do
  • Oversee all member services and business-facing platforms, strengthening integrations and creating a more seamless, supportive experience across the organization
  • Lead, mentor and empower Principal and Staff Engineers, helping them grow as thoughtful, strategic technical leaders and trusted partners
  • Build and nurture deep cross-functional relationships with Product, Design and the wider business, while preparing to guide future squads across new territories or functions
  • Collaborate closely across squads, bringing people together and creating space for diverse engineering talent to contribute meaningfully to shared outcomes
  • Evolve our engineering standards, practices and culture, encouraging continuous improvement, creativity and excellence in how we design and deliver
  • Champion the adoption of modern developer tools and AI-powered platforms to enhance productivity, quality and innovation
  • Provide supportive strategic and delivery leadership when needed, strengthening collaboration, wellbeing and technical resilience across teams
  • Act as a deputy for the Head of Engineering, contributing to the wider technology strategy, roadmap and leadership direction
What You’ll Bring
  • Proven strategic engineering leadership within high-growth technology organizations, operating as a Senior Engineering Manager, Head of Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience leading and developing Senior and Principal Engineers, fostering an environment of inclusion, technical excellence, shared purpose and trust
  • A strong track record of evolving engineering standards, workflows and culture within modern, product-led environments
  • Hands-on experience implementing and operationalizing advanced developer tooling and AI-powered engineering platforms
  • Highly effective stakeholder management and cross-functional leadership skills, aligning product, business and technical priorities through clear, empathetic communication
  • Confidence and composure when navigating ambiguity, encouraging continuous improvement and inspiring teams to deliver sustainably at pace and scale
  • Experience building or supporting international and offshore engineering capabilities, with sensitivity to collaboration across cultures and locations
