Job description

Overview

We are looking for a Senior Estimator to join our team and grow alongside our business. MES Contractors has been operating for over 45 years. This role is a key position that supports progression into senior management within the company. This is an office-based role in Gravesend, with no option to work from home and a 5-day work week.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects based on specifications, drawings, and other relevant documentation using our estimating software.
• Collaborate with suppliers, sub-contractors and our Purchasing Manager to gather necessary information for estimates.
• Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle, providing updates and recommendations for cost control measures.
• Review and evaluate subcontractor bids and proposals to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.
• Build relationships with clients and follow up on tenders, leveraging long-term client relationships to support business growth.

Experience

• Must be a qualified Gold Card electrician at a minimum.
• 7 years+ experience in estimating.
• Knowledge of JCT contracts is preferable.
• Experience with an electrical estimating system is required; Cypher is used and training can be provided.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for liaising with team members and clients.
• Proactive, client-facing mindset with willingness to engage with clients and pursue tenders.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
